about
From the album "Vivaldi: Four Seasons"
Centaur Records (2004)
Review by A. B. Ben on Amazon
There are few modern and complete interpretations of the Vivaldi's four seasons, apart some excerpts (usually summer or winter) you can hear on some music sites. But when mastering his instrument as well as N. Meier fact, it's a reason not to miss out. This is not the first, but it is incredibly efficient... Those who swear by a fundamentalist reading of scores won't agree with me, but they will never want to admit that the strength and beauty of such a work, which is nearly 300 years, lies in the fact that any artist, regardless of his instrument, may appropriate it and play it. Nicolas Meier, like some others before him (Uli John Roth - the Baronics,...) demonstrates with his brilliant interpretation that this great masterpiece will stay forever young. Yes indeed, this is a baroque piece ... and this version must be listened. Absolutely.
